On July 5, 2025, the Rotary Club of Saturday E-Jazz proudly joined hands with Rotary Club of Bukoto and Vishwadharma, a philanthropic NGO, in a meaningful initiative to boost digital education in underserved schools across Uganda. The donation ceremony was held at Delhi International School, Naguru, where 25 laptops were handed over to five carefully selected schools.
This impactful collaboration falls under Rotary International’s Basic Education and Literacy Enhancement Program (BELEP), which champions improved literacy and equitable access to education. Each of the five beneficiary schools received five laptops to support their digital learning efforts — among them, UMEA Primary School, Lubugumu, a school supported directly by the Rotary Club of Saturday E-Jazz.
List of Beneficiary Schools:
- UMEA Primary School, Lubugumu – under Rotary Club of Saturday E-Jazz
- St. Peter’s Kabutemba Primary School – Gomba East
- East Kololo Primary School – Central Division, Kampala
- KCCA Primary School, Kamwokya – Kampala Central
- Kasaka Secondary School – Gomba District
At Saturday E-Jazz, we recognize that digital access is no longer a luxury — it is a necessity. This donation is a significant step in bridging the digital divide, especially in rural and low-income communities where resources are often limited.
The Executive Director of Vishwadharma echoed the spirit of collaboration, stating, “This partnership is a great example of what can be achieved when NGOs and service organizations like Rotary come together for a common cause. Our goal is to empower the next generation with the tools they need to thrive in a digital world.”
During the handover, the President of Rotary Club of Bukoto emphasized how technology is transforming learning:
“These laptops will not only serve as learning aids but also open new doors for students and teachers alike. We thank Vishwadharma for their generosity and belief in our mission.”
As part of the Rotary family in District 9213, the Rotary Club of Saturday E-Jazz remains fully committed to supporting BELEP and its goals, including:
- Expanding access to quality education in marginalized communities
- Supporting teacher training and professional development
- Enhancing literacy among children and adults
- Encouraging community participation in education projects
Through this donation, students and teachers at UMEA Primary School in Lubugumu now have access to digital tools that can transform their learning experiences and open new possibilities.
This initiative is a shining example of Rotary’s “People of Action” spirit. We look forward to furthering such collaborations that elevate education, empower learners, and help communities thrive through innovation.
