UMEA Lubugumu Primary School, a long-standing partner of the Saturday E Jazz Rotary Club, lies at the heart of Namasuba in Wakiso District, Uganda. Since our charter, we’ve supported the school through several initiatives.
As Primary Seven candidates prepare for their final exams, our club steps in to offer both practical support and emotional encouragement. We donate mathematical sets and success cards to each student—simple yet powerful tools to boost their morale and readiness for the exams.
But we didn’t stop there. Club members engage the candidates in motivational conversations about:
- The importance of education and staying in school
- Career awareness and the wide range of futures they can aspire to
- Mental wellbeing and building confidence in their abilities
- Staying safe during the holiday period after exams
Our goal is clear: to help students believe in themselves, understand their potential, and feel prepared, not just for exams, but for the next stage of their lives.
We initially visited the school through the Buganda Kingdom’s Green Buganda initiative, aiming to plant trees. However, after interacting with the school community, we discovered a more urgent need—building student confidence, raising academic morale, and providing guidance for the future.
This project isn’t just about academic performance; it’s about equipping students with the mindset and motivation to pursue education beyond primary school, develop their skills, and grow into confident, capable citizens.
Every success story from UMEA Lubugumu fuels a culture of learning, ambition, and transformation.
